Dear Dr. Mekler:
I'm writing to you in response to your inquiry regarding your model of the RTP protein. I'm sorry that it took so long for me to respond, but I've been overseas for several weeks and had to wait to return to the states to mail it. Your secondary structure prediction was extremely accurate, save for the inaccurate prediction of a b-strand at N-terminus (residues 12 - 14). Likewise, the tertiary structure prediction had its merits. You, as you probably know by now, accurately predict dimerization of the protein by C-terminal helices. Also, the positioning of much of the secondary structural elements was correct. The accuracy lessened, however, as you approached the N-terminus. I know that this may be for a bit vague, but as I write this I'm flying over the Atlantic Caround 2000 km from our ESV graphics stations.
Dr. Judson and Dr. Moult have been given the a-carbon coordinates and will be glad to send them to you; if not, please e-mail me and I will release them to you. My e-mail address is dirk@whitesws.mc.duke.edu. I look forward to hearing from you, and congratulations on your prediction.
Yours truly,
Dirk Bussiere
